Happy City is a not-for-profit organisation that focuses on building happiness in people and communities. Happy City is being piloted in Bristol and encourages members of the community to share sources of happiness and to support the growth of new sources. It aims to uncover, highlight and celebrate learning about happiness in Bristol through on ground events and through the online happiness bank.
Happy City is “working to support a groundswell of interest, understanding and action to reverse the current societal fixation with economic growth and consumption as the route to wellbeing and the sole measure of ‘success’.”
The project aims to develop an understanding of subjective well-being by working with local groups, comminity centres, national stages, policy makers and researchers. It aims to ensure the development of happiness and well-being in Government and Academia.
