Geography

Cameroon has a population of 19,598,889 according to the World Bank database [1]. Cameroon is situated in Western Africa and is bordering the Bight of Biafra, between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea. It has borders with Central African Republic for 797 km, Gabon for 298km, Equatorial Guinea for 189km, Congo for 523km, and Nigeria for 1690km and Chad for 1094km. Land in Cameroon is various, with coastal plain in southwest, dissected plateau in center, mountains[2]

Plan National de Gestion de l'Environnement

Cameroon's National Plan on Environmental Management was adopted in 1996 and is the country's framework for sustainable development. [3]. Its development included the contributions of people from various sectors (academic, NGO, government). The PNGE is a joint initiative of the government of Cameroon, UNDP, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit and the World Bank.

Multidimensional Poverty Index

The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for Cameroon is 0.287. The MPI is an international measure of acute poverty covering 109 countries. The MPI reflects the multiple deprivations that poor people face at the same time in three dimensions: health, education and living standards. The MPI reflects both the incidence or headcount ratio (H) of poverty – the proportion of the population that is multidimensionally poor – and the average intensity (A) of their poverty – the average proportion of indicators in which poor people are deprived. UNDP Human Development Report Trends - 2010

According to the UNDP's 2001 HDI report, Cameroon's HDI is 0.482, which gives the country a rank of 150 out of 187 countries with comparable data. The HDI of Sub-Saharan Africa as a region increased from 0.365 in 1980 to 0.463 today, placing Cameroon above the regional average. The HDI trends tell an important story both at the national and regional level and highlight the very large gaps in well-being and life chances that continue to divide our interconnected world. Happiness in Cameroon

This is an overview of findings on Happiness in Cameroon.The available findings are presented in the latest ‘Nation Report’ on Cameroon[5]. This report is ordered by type of happiness questions and within these types by year. This ordering is to facilitate the assessment of progress, comparison over time being most fruitful using the same questions.
