Wikiprogress highlights

Online Discussions: Wikigender opened a new online discussion on gender equality and climate change. Participate from 29 May until 8 June and have your voice heard at the 10th OECD DAC Network on Gender Equality (Gendernet) meeting on 14 June!

The Canadian Index of WellBeing online discussion on Wikiprogress engaged a diverse group of contributors and helped to develop knowledge on the next phase of the measuring progress agenda. Highlights from the discussion will provide inputs to the 4th OECD World Forum. The title (and focus) of the World Forum will be "Measuring Well-Being for Development and Policy-Making".

The American Human Development Project has officially changed names to Measure of America. This month they launched a research brief, Women's Well-Being Ranking America's Top 25 Metro Areas, which has received extensive media attention across the world.

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership with Save the Children. This partnership will foster the development of innovative approaches to child well-being and reflect the growing interest in measuring progress related to children

The School for Wellbeing and Research have updated their page and are seeking partners in Asia, Europe and elsewhere in the world, who are interested in critically supporting this project. Please contact hans@schoolforwellbeing.org for more information.

The OECD released a new version of its Your Better Life Index an online, interactive tool through which you can look at how countries perform according to the importance users give to the various components of well-being. The updated version integrates data on gender and inequality and strengthens existing topics. Visitors to Your Better Life Index will now be able to compare their well-being priorities to those of other users by country, age and gender, and share their results.

Wikigender monthly highlights from on gender equality and progress:

In 2009, there were only 21 countries scored in the SIGI with specific legislation to combat domestic violence; in the 2012 SIGI, there are 53 countries that have specific legislation to combat domestic violence.

The OECD Development Centre released the 2012 Social Institutions and Gender Index (SIGI) which revealed some promising progress in tackling discriminatory social institutions. Check the new website for more findings and read more about the launch event co-hosted by the OECD Development Centre and the United States Department of State on 10 May.
